TRAVEL INSURANCE

Worldnomad or globalrescue
**make sure your insurance cover trekking beyond 3500masl with helicopter evacuation
(i was bold enough not to buy it…I beli travel insurance biasa je sebab the price quoted for my trip was 200 USD- jangan tiru la aksi kedekut tak senonoh ni)

TIPS

  1. Start early morning for good view. Clouds will start rolling in in the mid morning / afternoon
  2. Pick the earliest flight to Lukla and spare some days in case of delays or flight cancellations due to bad weather (other options include chartering a heli / taking a bus to Jiri). Sit at the left side of the plane for stunning view of Himalayan ranges (on the way to Lukla)
  3. Make way for yaks and donkeys to pass by on the track
  4. Try to book accommodations at higher altitude beforehand during peak season (ie Gokyo, Gorakshep) because there aren’t many of them and they might not be vacant. Boleh try tengok honeyguideapps.com tapi yang lain tu walk in je sebab you can be more flexible with your journey.
  5. AMS prevention : go slow, hydration, do not exert yourself, ACCLIMATISATION HIKE HELPS! (Spend at least 30 mins at highest altitude then go down to recuperate), garlic, diamox.
  6. If you’re on your own, try to pair up with other trekker or tag along with a guided group especially while traveling from Dzongla – Gokyo (mod-hard track, remote area)
  7. Spend a night at nirvana lodge, Namche Bazar to meet Kancha Sherpa, the last surviving member of the world’s first successful everest expedition in 1953

**this is just my itinerary, boleh adjust according to fitness level. Memang at high altitude mengah, selera tak sama macam dekat bawah. Yang penting take it slow. Gokyo is gorgeous. Rugi tak pegi. Good luck!
